EVERY ELF CIVILIZATION IS CONSTANTLY WATCHED BY SEVERAL TERRITORY RANGERS AT ALL TIMES. ELVES HAVE AN EXTENSIVE MILITARY AND ELVISH WARRIORS ARE NOTHING TO TAKE LIGHTLY. THEY ARE TRAINED IN MANY WEAPON PROFICIENCIES AS WELL AS HAND TO HAND FROM THE MOMENT THEY ARE ALLOWED TO JOIN TRAINING AT 90 YEARS OLD.SINCE THE AVERAGE (RECORDED) LIFESPAN OF AN ELF IS BETWEEN 3,000 OR 4,000 YEARS OLD. THE ACTUAL MAXIMUM LIFESPAN IS UNCERTAIN. THE EXTENSIVE LIFESPAN IS RUMOURED TO HAVE MORE TO DO WITH MAGIC THAN THEIR BIOLOGY AS A SPECIES. SINCE THEY ARE CARETAKERS OF THE EARTH ESSENTIALLY, IT IS THOUGHT THAT THEY PULL THEIR LIFE FORCE FROM THE WORLD AROUND THEM. DRAWING ON THE LIFE THEY CULTIVATE. THEY ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE REST OF THE OTHERWORLDLY CREATURES FOR THIS ASPECT ALONE. WHILE IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR OTHER UNDERWORLD CREATURES TO LIVE UP TO THOUSANDS OF YEARS, ITS GENERALLY MAXED OUT BETWEEN 1 AND 2 THOUSAND.

When Nova was handed to Lazarus the first while was excruciating, as are most vampire transformations. Celeste took care of Nova and tried to shield her from as much of the pain the creatures of the underworld bring, as she could. Including but not limited to her thirst, and the abuse she received from elder vampires looking to assert dominance over fresh meat in whatever way they saw fit. When Nova took power she made sure no one ever touched Celeste. She is safe as long as Nova’s around, just as Nova was safe when Celeste was around.Celeste is around 70 or so years older than Nova. She came from a small village in southern england originally. She came from a large family, which was why it wasnt hard for them to trade her for their own safety. When their home was attacked by bandits that threatened to kill everyone several families offered up children as slaves to sate their greed. Celeste happened to be one of those poor children.She lived a hard life after that, a sweet girl but she was very angry. Angry at her family for abandoning her, angry at the raiders for the things they did to her and made her do. Which was why it was all too enticing when Lazarus offered her immortality and the strength to rip her captors to shreds. She accepted, turned willingly under false hope that no one would put her through anything like that again. And false hope it was as she continued to suffer under Lazarus. Though not nearly as bad as she had under the raiders. Lazarus favoured her. She was at the height of his favourites and on track to become his bride. At least until Nova came into the picture.She felt horrible for feeling relieved and scared at the same time. She was more likely to become a target if she lost her spot by his side, but she also was ready to just be done and her own woman. Maybe she would run away. Maybe she could leave the nest, fly solo. But no. This girl…. She saw herself in the little brunette. Sold out. Thrown away. Though Celeste had willingly turned, Nova had not. She had no choice.The two would become very close as time passed. She would protect Nova where she could, but she knew something was coming. A darkness brewing in the young vampire. She recognized it. Anger. Hatred. She worried for her friend, but she soon found it to be all for naught as she watched Nova be drug into his quarters one day, only to hear the screams of Lazarus as Nova bit a chunk of his face off. Knowing that if Nova killed him outside of an official challenge, she would be killed. So Celeste hastily encouraged Nova to scream her challenge as the body guards approached.No one had ever challenged Lazarus he was literally one of the four vampires that started the species. But Nova was no push over. Nova was tired of everything and Celeste felt it in her tired bones that this woman was liberation. For her. For the nest. Possibly for all vampire kind. And she was right, that night Nova became the Alpha, and Celeste found her freedom again. CHOOSING to be at Novas side, where she will always be. Her loyal friend. Her confidant. Supporting her through any challenge.

Kah’lee, Which translates to “Little river” in Elvish, was the daughter of Cor D’halia’s brother- however upon an unfortunate accident, both of Kah’lees father’s were killed. The tragic event would ultimately land Kah’lee in the care of her Aunt and the Elvish Queen, Cor D’halia.
D’halia happily adopted her Niece and raised her to the best of her ability.For the most part Kah’lee grew up happy and healthy, however it was not without it’s own challenges. Kah’lee is what the modern world would call autistic, or what the Elves call ‘Ser’ Dect’ (s-air-deck-t) which translates roughly to “different gift”. It’s the Elvish umbrella term for most mental illness’ as well since those that struggle with it experience life in a different way than other neurotypical Elves do. However unlike the modern world there is no stigma around such things, and all Elves are encouraged to talk about their struggles so that others may find the best way to help them struggle as little as they can manage.Life for Kah’lee was difficult in a lot of ways, autism isn’t particularly common in the Elvish genome so it’s something that her family and friends as a whole had to work harder on understanding what she needed from them. For a while after the death of her fathers, despite still being quite young (around four in human years), Kah’lee went non-verbal and couldn’t bring herself to speak. Everything was so loud in her head and she had a hard time grasping the fact that her parents weren’t coming home.She struggled with feeling abandoned and angry, or lost and confused. She’d convinced herself that had been a dream a few times, and had to start her grieving process all over again. It took Kah’lee three years before she finally spoke a word again. That word was “Yes.” in response to D’halia asking if she would like to be adopted by her. D’halia said she knew that she could never replace Kah’lee’s fathers, but she would be honoured to be the girls mother all the same.It was a challenge for D’halia balancing her duties as queen with her duties as a mother to her special needs child. Kah’lee has a high sensitivity to sound, too many noises can overwhelm her quickly and send her into a shut down. Starting school was fun because of that, especially with loud kids, Kah’lee started an entire year later than normal just so she could prepare herself for it. It did not hinder her one bit because Kah’lee is actually incredibly smart academically.Interacting with the other kids was something Kah’lee liked and wanted to do, but she was often out of sorts when she didn’t catch social queues the way the other kids did. Bullying isnt particularly rampant in the Elvish culture, they just aren’t like that as a people but Kah’lee still felt incredibly different and outcasted quite often. Kah’lee had certain ways she needed things to be done to make them feel safe, sometimes that was as simple as needing to sit in a very specific spot because it was comfortable and the least noisy, she didnt get overwhelmed.Sometimes that meant doing tasks in a very specific order, because she knew that order to be safe, if it was in a different order she couldn’t justify the same results in her head- she couldn’t promise that the end result would also be safe and so Kah’lee struggled a LOT with change on a large and small scale.Kah’lee also had safe foods, ones she knew for a fact that she liked, they were good and made her happy, trying new foods was scary because if she didn’t like it there was a chance the texture or the taste could make her panic because her brain would just scream WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG at her. Its the same for textures of objects, shes very particular about her jewellery and her clothing because shes very sensitive and while a slightly rough fabric can go ignored by most, Kah’lee was hyper aware it was touching her skin and it was overwhelming.On top of all of those daily struggles for the poor girl, Kah’lee also has one antler thats a little smaller and misshapen on the left. This only added to her internalised feeling of not belonging because not only was she mentally different, but she didn’t understand why she didnt look the same either. Growing antlers was just a natural thing all elves did, how did she manage to fuck even that up? Because of these struggles, Kah’lee became more withdrawn the older she got.Preferring the company of animals and books to most other Elves (except her aunt). Kah’lee is an avid reader and at present has read all of the existing Elvish books in her town, she has now started learning to read english so that she can read the small handful of books that D’halia has from before they with-drew from the human societies. In the meantime, Kah’lee likes to do a little more of something she’d done since she was very little- make her own stories.A lot of them seem disjointed or sporadic, but she makes rich little short stories with all kinds of interesting characters that she adores telling D’halia. She used to tell them to her classmates, but one kid said her character didn’t make sense and she took it so terribly that she no longer felt like it was safe to tell anyone else her stories, for fear of scrutiny or rejection.

Astrid fell in love with a vampire and convinced him to turn her. They were inseparable until he got killed by a werewolf… Or so she thought. What really happened was he faked his death and went to work for the wolves. Astrid, not knowing that, was a wreck over the loss of her lover. Still with encouragement from Celeste and Nova she pushed on. Astrid serves as counsel for Nova due to her vast knowledge of many subjects including magic. She obtained the magic knowledge by befriending the all too rare natural born witch (before they had all been hunted to near extinction and more than one existed at one time). Over time she learned about spell work, and the nature of magic.Its relationship with the universe and the rules that surrounded it. Astrid became the resident expert once her friend died from old age. Astrid pleaded to turn her but the witch refused, she stated she had learned all she needed to and now had to move on to the next life. Now she spends her days shamelessly flirting with Cassie, to get a rise out of her. It is unclear if she actually fancies her or if it’s all for show. It’s rumoured they’ve fucked once or twice but neither will admit to it. When she’s not teasing Cassie Astrid can be found studying the archives in the citadel, and teaching Lillian more about the power she possesses and how to use it. Though Astrid doesn’t know everything, since she’s not a witch, what knowledge she does possess she happily passes on to her Alpha’s greatest treasure.She and Celeste are quite close, and after Lillian softened Nova up a little she became even closer with Nova now that she wasn’t being kept at arm’s length. Celeste and Astrid are Nova’s best friends, so it really helps they’re both also fond of her dumb ass little werewolf. Though not as heavily as Celeste, Astrid would also have a hand in keeping Lillian alive and well after Nova’s official departure from Lily’s life.
